Weekly sitting and Dhamma at the vihara
A short guide to our regular Saturday meditation and Sunday Dhamma discussion — times, what to bring, and how to participate.
Our community gathers throughout the week to practise and study together. The rhythm of regular practice helps mindfulness carry over from the cushion into ordinary life.
Saturday — meditation session
We meet every Saturday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Nissarana Vihara, Henderson. The session includes sitting meditation and may include walking meditation or brief instructions, depending on the teacher present.
Wear comfortable, modest clothing. Cushions and chairs are available. If it is your first visit, arrive a few minutes early so someone can show you where to sit.
Sunday — Dhamma discussion
On Sundays, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, we hold Dhamma discussion. This is a chance to explore the Buddha's teachings in plain language, ask questions, and learn from one another.
No homework is required. Curiosity and respect are enough.
Annual retreat
Each year we also offer a full-day retreat (currently scheduled around March). Retreat days are ideal for deepening concentration and quieting the usual distractions of daily life. Details are posted on our Events page as the date approaches.
If you are unsure which programme suits you, send a message to info@nissarana.nz or call 09 2424 334.
